‘A Childless Village’ to vie at Red Sea festival

Iranian film ‘A Childless Village’ is to compete at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

Iranian film ‘A Childless Village’ has made its way to the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

‘A Childless Village’, directed by Reza Jamali, will compete in the 2nd edition of Red Sea International Film Festival, media reports said.

The comedy film received its world premiere at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (POFF) in Estonia.

‘A Childless Village’ is about a small village where no children have been born for a while and all the men there blame that on the women.

Two decades ago, a filmmaker named Kazem arrives in the remote village to make a documentary on the sterility of the village’s women. But the women stole the film and burnt it in order to save their face.

After the villagers have realized that it is men who are barren, Kazem, with the help of his assistant, tries to film a number of interviews with the barren men in order to reveal the truth in a new film, but this turns out to be an impossible mission.

The 2nd edition of Red Sea International Film Festival will take place in Jeddah on December 1-10.
